Engie announces the construction of a new wind farm in Porto Torres.

The 30 MW plant will come on stream from mid-2023 with latest generation machines, larger turbines which, for the same power, will make it possible to reduce the number of wind towers to a minimum, with benefits in terms of impact on the landscape. Only five towers will be installed compared to the ten or more that would have been required with previous generation technologies.

A new wind farm will also be built in Sicily, in Rampingallo (Trapani). Overall, the two plants will produce 145 GWh of energy each year. In total, over 45,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions will be saved per year, equal to about 24,000 fewer cars circulating on Italian roads in the same period, and the needs of around 55,000 families will be covered.

"The energy crisis requires us to accelerate the development of renewable energies and invest to diversify the sources of supply, thus reducing the use of fossil fuels", declared Monica Iacono, CEO of Engie Italia, "by 2030 we will arrive at 2 GW of installed power, concretely contributing to the country's energy transition path and combining the production of energy from renewable sources with innovative solutions that guarantee greater stability to the grid. To achieve these ambitious development objectives, it is important to be able to count on solid cooperation with local authorities, as well as to see the necessary pieces defined for the completion of an enabling regulatory framework. From this point of view, the priorities are the rapid publication of the decree relating to "suitable areas" and the determined pursuit of the ongoing process of simplification of the authorization procedures of the RES, in order to give the necessary acceleration to achieve the country's decarbonisation objectives ».
