The singer Al Bano Carrisi allows himself a stop in Porto Torres , before the concert of the evening at the municipal theater of Sassari.

The artist visited the archaeological site of Via Libio 53, an ancient necropolis recently discovered in the center of the city, painted underground tombs dug into the rock, a heritage that dates back to Roman times, found during the construction of the building that stands in the heart of the city. Guest of the municipal councilor Ico Bruzzi and his colleague, the exponent in the council in Sassari Cristian Luisi, to guide him was the president of the municipal council Franco Satta, a former technician of the Superintendency who explained the origin of the excavations and the finds found.

"He was surprised by so much beauty and historical richness that Porto Torres preserves - explains Satta - for this reason we invited him to return to our city , to discover many other interesting archaeological sites that our area offers".

A welcome surprise for the owners who manage the area . Al Bano spent an entire morning visiting the monumental complex made up of two large underground chambers with various arcosolium tombs dug into the outcropping limestone and other inhumation burials. He observed the interesting and rich decoration on the plaster painted on the walls of the tombs: in one of these a chariot in race with charioteer and horses is represented, a suggestive funerary symbology.
