It's no surprise that his latest musical project is titled "Il Suono." Composer Luigi Frassetto has always had a special predilection for sound, both when he was a member of Rodeo Clown, a punk band from Sassari, and when he later dedicated himself primarily to soundtracks, as well as organizing events and festivals like "Il Club del Disco" and Billelera Festival.
The Sassari-born musician will present his new project on Saturday at 9 pm at the Spazio Piscina in Porto Ferro. The fruit of nearly three years of compositional effort, "Il Suono" is Frassetto's definitive act of love for music, his lifelong companion. Like a modern-day Enrico Ghezzi (his voice out of sync with the image), and using Burroughs's cut-up technique, Frassetto shreds and cuts sound (the writer did the same with his lyrics), composing a kaleidoscopic musical journey while simultaneously lamenting the increasingly marginal role of listening as an activity in itself, in an age of visual hyperstimulation. A lament that is simultaneously a reaffirmation of sound as a unique vehicle for introspection and experience.
For Saturday's concert, Frassetto (guitars, synthesizers, and vocals) will be accompanied by Paolo Succu on drums and percussion and Alfredo Puglia on samplers and sound direction.
