Troubled waters at the Porto Canale in Cagliari , with a back-and-forth that has taken place in the last few hours between the unions and the labor councilor Desirè Manca. An exchange in which the councilor defines as "incomprehensible" the accusations of "disappearance" of her and the governor , made by the unions in the last few hours, after the promises of the electoral campaign regarding port employees, particularly temporary workers, and the relaunch of the port , the workers' representatives instead speak of a request for a meeting sent to the governor on January 15th and to which they have not received a response to date.
UNCERTAIN FUTURE – Two deadlines are shaking up the spirits, namely the assignment in June of the concession for the main dock of the commercial port and, a month later, the farewell of the president of the Port Authority Massimo Deiana at the end of his second mandate . A phase of change that does not leave the former Cict workers at ease, now parked in Kalport, the Agency for the supply of labor in the port and for professional requalification established by the Port Authority and also active in Taranto and Gioia Tauro.
TRADE UNIONS – In detail, the port employees registered with the Cgil, had in the last few hours and as mentioned complained about the disappearance, after the electoral campaign, of the president Todde and the councilor Manca. «More than a month ago we asked for a meeting with the president – the words of Marco Manca of the Cgil – but to date no response has arrived». On the same wavelength Giomaria Cuccu of the Uil, who underlined how the Canal Port has been «in a stalemate for some time. The assignment of the dock is expiring and the company Mito, controlled by Grendi, the current concessionaire of half of the spaces, would like a renewal for 20 years. We do not oppose the merits, but the requests are many and we would like the commercial port to return to the glories of the past».
THE COUNCILOR – So, this morning, the reply from Desirè Manca, who defines the accusations of absence as «incomprehensible» «since the dialogue with the unions has always been open and constant . We have organized several meetings to address the problems of the Porto Canale in my Department, also in the presence of the president of the Port System Authority of the Sea of Sardinia. However, following the last meeting, no request has been received that would justify a new roundtable on the issue» . «My full availability and that of the Region remains to intervene to facilitate the requalification, relocation and hiring of the workers involved – Manca continued – supporting every initiative useful to guarantee employment and development. In the same way, the Department will continue to support the relaunch of the port on an international level, so that it can return to being a strategic point of reference, as it has been for twenty years».
«NEW TABLE NEEDED» – Then the counter-reply of the Cgil, which in a note recalls how on January 15th together with the Cisl and Uil of Sardinia and the categories of the transport sector they «sent a request for a meeting on the future of the canal port to President Todde» . «A useful discussion to define a path of intent to be supported jointly - we read in the letter - to give the entire complex the importance it deserves and its relocation in the most important international routes, also as a Sardinian economic and employment driver, taking full advantage of all the tax breaks provided». After more than a month, however, no response has arrived. «We hope that Councilor Manca, faced with the legitimate concerns and demands of the unions, will review the thesis according to which there are no reasons that can justify a new table on the issue. The hope of the CGIL is that the discussion on this issue and on all the crucial questions for the future of Sardinia will be reactivated, not only with the individual departments but also with the Presidency, to which, again jointly, the unions sent another letter on 29 October last signed by the general secretaries of CGIL, CISL, UIL urging, also on that occasion, the resumption of the discussion».
