As part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, approximately 50 million euros were allocated to the Region of Sardinia to finance new projects for the management of flood risk and for the reduction of hydrogeological risk.

For the same purpose, initiatives have already been carried out, for a value of almost 31 million, to be reported to the National Department of Civil Protection.

"An important support for our Island, frequently battered by serious calamitous events, which will allow us, thanks also to the valuable work done by the Regional Civil Protection and the municipal administrations, to allocate important resources to safeguarding the territory", commented Governor Christian Solinas.

"New interventions, including structural ones, will be implemented to reduce the risk in the areas affected by disasters, aimed primarily at protecting public and private safety - explained the regional councilor for environmental protection, Gianni Lampis -. In addition to recognition of the needs for the restoration of damaged public and private structures and infrastructures, as well as of the damage suffered by economic and productive activities, by cultural and landscape assets and by the building heritage ".

The plan prepared by the Sardinia Region, which received the OK from the National Department of Civil Protection, contains projects identified, during the reconnaissance carried out, on the occasion of the national emergencies declared for the flood of 10 and 11 October 2018 , which hit 45 municipalities in Southern Sardinia, in Sarrabus and Ogliastra, and for that of 28 November last year, which devastated the Municipality of Bitti .
