"The certainty is that I had more preferences , now I ask that the scrutiny of the approximately 1,800 votes of the two Quartu Sant'Elena sections be done immediately in order to be able to assign the seats of the Metropolitan City in the regional assembly".

Thus the candidate for the regional secretariat of the Sardinian Democratic Party, Giuseppe Meloni , in the aftermath of the uncertain outcome of the primaries on the island.

Meloni, at the moment, is ahead by about 2-3 thousand votes, 18 thousand compared to the approximately 15 thousand of his opponent Piero Comandini , but he is behind as regards the number of delegates to the regional assembly, i.e. those who will de facto elect the Sardinian leader .

Things were complicated by the Quartu case: "Yesterday they prevented Quartu from carrying out the scrutiny immediately - continues Meloni - but it is madness, ballots cannot be kept in the ballot box".

In total, over 30,000 supporters of the Democratic Party went to vote on the island.
