After three hours spent discussing how to deal with the node of the sealed Quarto ballot boxes, the regional commission for the congress of the Democratic Party has decided to proceed with the counting of the last 1800 decisive ballots to establish who between Giuseppe Meloni and Piero Comandini is the new regional secretary of the Pd. The commission has begun the counting starting from the national ballots, in about an hour it will pass to the votes for the lists of regional candidates.

"It was a very heated meeting from the point of view of the discussion - declared the president of the commission Sebastiano Mazzone - but what matters is the result, that is the decision to carry out the counting". Mazzone specified that "the regional commission acted independently without any pressure from the national guarantee commission".

As for the reason why on the evening of the 26th the scrutineers of the Quartu polling stations refused to proceed with the counting, «we cannot speak of polluting the vote which recalls conditions that we objectively did not find from reading the minutes. We encountered an unsettled situation ».
