Laura Pausini returns to her controversial refusal to sing Bella Ciao during a guest at the popular Spanish TV quiz ' El Hormiguero'. With a social post on Twitter, in Italian and Spanish, the artist tries to clarify once and for all.

The singer condemns fascism and essentially says that the song in the past was politically exploited.

"I wanted to expose my point of view after the controversy of these days ," he said. “In an impromptu, light and pure entertainment television situation, I chose not to sing a song in hymn of freedom but used several times over the years in different political contexts”.

“As a woman, before being an artist, I have always been for freedom and the values linked to it - continues Pausini -. I abhor fascism and any form of dictatorship . My music and my career have demonstrated the values I have always believed in ”.

And again, to justify his refusal: “ I wanted to avoid being dragged and exploited in such a heated and unpleasant moment of electoral campaign, unfortunately it was not like that. I respect my audience and I will continue to do so, with the freedom to choose how to express myself ".

Among the many criticisms received in recent days by the artist was also that of Pif : “Thinking not to sing Bella Ciao for not wanting to take a stand is a big bullshit. When you refuse to sing it, you have already taken a stand , ”said the director, actor and TV presenter. “At my funeral - he concluded - sing it because I want to take a stand, even when I am dead.
