Pasqual Canu receives the Fidelitat a l'Alguer award
The prestigious award to the scholar, writer and undisputed protagonist of cultural relations with Catalonia
The “Fidelitat a l'Alguer” award will go to Pasqual Scanu. The Municipality of Alghero will confer the important honor on the scholar, writer, undisputed protagonist of cultural relations with Catalonia. The recognition is given to personalities who have distinguished themselves most for the enhancement of the culture, language and traditions of Alghero.
Pasqual Scanu, who passed away in 1979, was one of the most representative intellectuals of Alghero, author of numerous publications, including, very important, “Alghero and Catalonia”.
The award ceremony is scheduled for Thursday 30 September in the Civic Theater of Alghero, starting at 19. Before him, the award established in 1995 by the Municipality of Alghero was awarded in the same year to Giuseppe Sanna, author of the Diccionari Català de l'Alguer and in 2016 (with delivery in February 2018) to the priest Antoni Nughes, author, researcher, co-founder of the Escola de Alguerés "Pasqual Scanu", precisely, since its establishment in 1982.
