No transfers during the closed market: José Luis Palomino is staying at Cagliari, and by his own choice. After weeks of pressure from Talleres, a team from Córdoba that could have signed him now and brought him back to his homeland after more than ten years (negotiations are still open in Argentina), the defender born in 1990 has decided to stay with the rossoblù at least until the end of the season, with the club also having an option in its favor to extend the contract expiring on June 30. Cagliari did not want him to leave and insisted that he stay: he wavered, but in the end he preferred to continue his experience in Sardinia.

Talleres' offer for Palomino was real, as confirmed by the president of the Argentine club Andrés Fassi last week. But the defender, after a meeting with the management and coach Davide Nicola, said no. And in this sense, the coach's words in recent interviews have also weighed heavily, in which he has repeatedly reiterated Palomino's role as leader and his weight in the locker room. So much so that, very often, it is the Argentine who holds the pre-match speeches.

Having arrived in Cagliari in mid-August, Palomino has so far made 9 appearances in Serie A (with one goal, on October 20 in the 3-2 victory over Torino) and 2 in the Coppa Italia. He has not played since January 11, against Milan, but his experience will be useful for the final part of the season in which the rossoblù will play for survival. Also because, as central defenders, in addition to the starting pair of Mina and Luperto, only Adam Obert remains, often moved to the left wing.
