An all-Sardinian film contributes to the selection of the film that will represent Italy when the Oscar nominations for the Best International Film section will be chosen. After the double victory at the Annecy Film Festival, director Bonifacio Angius is in the running together with other Italian titles with “I Giganti” for the selection for the nominations of the famous statuette.

The third feature by the Sassari director, who also plays the role of one of the protagonists, is in the list of 18 Italian films that ANICA, the National Association of Audiovisual and Multimedia Film Industries, will have to vote on October 26 at the request of the Academy to designate which Italian opera will participate in the selection for the Oscar nominations in the section reserved for the Best International Film.

A prestigious award for a film that impressed critics and also found a good reception from the public, as evidenced by the Youth Jury Prize in Annecy.

Another chance for Sardinia - as a location - from “Ariaferma”, the film shot by Leonardo Di Costanzo in the now disused prison of San Sebastiano in Sassari. The protagonists are Toni Servillo and Silvio Orlando.
