Othoca of Oristano is preparing for the challenge of the Italian Language Championships. The competition began a few days ago. "This year too, we are the only school in Oristano participating in the competition," explains Headmaster Serafino Piras. "This is proof that in our institute, despite its technical and scientific focus, humanistic education is fundamental for us." The Italian Language Championships were created with ambitious and necessary goals: to encourage and deepen the study of the Italian language, recognized as an essential element of every student's cultural education and an indispensable foundation for the acquisition of all knowledge and skills. It's not just about grammar or
syntax, but rather the linguistic mastery that allows one to think clearly, argue effectively, and understand the complexity of the world. The event also aims to foster students' interest and motivation to improve their language skills, promoting and recognizing merit in this often undervalued area. The competition will consist of three phases: the school competition, which represents the first test; the regional competition for those who pass this initial selection; and finally, the national competition, a coveted achievement for Italy's top linguistic talents. The school competition took place on Monday, February 9th, with students competing.
Divided into two categories: Junior, reserved for first-year students, and Senior, for first-year students. The event enjoys prestigious institutional support. It is promoted and organized by the General Directorate for School Systems, Evaluation, and Internationalization of the National Education System of the Ministry of Education and Merit, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Regional School Offices, the Association for the History of the Italian Language, the Association of Italianists, and the Campiello Giovani Prize.
