A permanent exhibition to celebrate the art of Carlo Contini, one of the most important painters from Oristano in the Sardinian panorama of the 1900s.

From tomorrow the halls of the Municipal Art Gallery will host twenty works (some belonging to the Municipality's collection, others donated or made available by the painter's heirs) which, following a chronological order, will tell the different periods of the artist's life.

The initiative, curated by the Department of Culture and the Oristano Foundation, is part of the Open Monuments event. The inauguration, which will also be attended by the artist's daughter, Crala Contini, is scheduled for tomorrow at 18.30.

The exhibition, curated by Obler Luperi, develops in thematic areas ranging from the sacred to public, civil and religious commissions, up to explorations into the world of the neo-avant-gardes of the 50s and 60s. There are also themes of the Sardinian tradition and the Sartiglia.

The archivist Ilaria Urgu will intervene at the appointment, who will tell the story of the purchase of the work "La Sagra del Cristo" from the documents kept in the Historical Archive of the Municipality, Antonello Carboni who will outline "Carlo Contini, a Sardinian colourist" and Maria Teresa Tosi will focus on the theme "Carlo Contini: the architecture of the soul".

The collection will be open to visitors from Monday to Sunday, from 10 to 13 and from 16 to 20.
