Three churches, centuries of history, and a heritage waiting to be rediscovered. On Saturday, October 31, Oristano opens the doors of some of its most significant sites for the final weekend of the Romanesque Days , offering residents and visitors a journey through religious architecture, memory, and the identity of the Giudicato d'Arborea.
The focus of the initiative will be the Church of Santa Chiara, in the historic center. Admission is free from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, with free guided tours at 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 5:00 pm, organized by the Oristano Foundation. The building's construction dates back to 1343 and 1348, when Oristano was one of the main political centers of Sardinia's Giudicati. Costanza di Saluzzo, wife of the Giudicato d'Arborea, was buried here.
The tour will continue with the opening of the church of Santu Giuanni de Froris , organized by the Farmers' Guild, open from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The church of San Martino will also be open to visitors , with openings organized by the Touring Club of Oristano from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The event is part of the Romanesque Days , an event promoted by the Sardinia Island of Romanesque Foundation as part of the national Italia Romanica project, which promotes medieval heritage through special openings, guided tours, and cultural initiatives.
