Open monuments: over 40 treasures to visit in Cagliari

43 monuments, four thematic itineraries and a project dedicated to the municipality of Pirri. And then 9 special initiatives and an urban game that will take place in the Villanova district. It is the 26th edition of Monumenti Aperti , scheduled in Cagliari on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May.
About 2,500 volunteers from 32 associations, 33 institutions and property owners and managers, 37 schools, tell about the monuments. For the first time, the event is held under the High Patronage of the European Parliament.
"Despite the past two difficult years - explains Massimiliano Messina , one of the founders of the event and president of the Imago Mundi OdV association - we have never stopped, the extreme criticalities we have faced have not prevented us from continuing to move and to project ourselves towards the future. . THE NEWS - There are two novelties in the Open Monuments program in Cagliari . The first concerns the Institute for the blind , founded in 1895 by the noble Maurizio Falqui from Cagliari who started a first course of study in favor of blind young people. Inside it is possible to visit the atrium, the chapel, the meeting room, the historical didactic material, the computer room with the new technological aids. Guided tours are organized by the educators and operators of the Institute of the Blind National Association of the visually impaired and visually impaired.
The second novelty concerns the Puppet Art Theater of the Is Mascareddas company. There are also two returns: the Elephant Tower and the Church of Sant'Agostino .
The event offers four itineraries : with the Trentapiedi, a pedestrian train, equipped with a conductor and a human locomotive, to Pirri. Then, bilingual, in Sardinian and Italian on the promontory of Sant'Elia. Then there is the Dionigi Scano path, in the center, and a walk to the Sant'Ignazio hill.
