«A council has been created that will express itself in the coming months and years to give the answers that the Sardinians have been waiting for for a long time».

These are the first words of the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde, at the end of the decisive summit with the allies for the indication of the names of the councilors who will be part of her executive ( HERE IS THE LIST OF COUNCILORS ).

«We have favored the presence of women: with me there will be six of us. We have", added the governor, "also tried to represent all the territories: some are missing, but at least we have extended compared to the classic Cagliari-Sassari. Technical and political skills were rewarded."

The councilors on the council

The issue of regional councilors recruited into the executive «is also a topic linked to the dynamics and balances that we had to have. We are aware that what is important is to maintain the legal number of commissions. The limit of three councilors? It wasn't an esoteric number that we invented: it was precisely linked to the fact that it was right to reward those who had received a lot of popular support, but at the same time we had to guarantee the functioning of the Council and therefore for this reason we had set ourselves a limit".

The two technicians

For Urban Planning the choice fell on Francesco Spanedda, «an internationally recognized professor. He has carried out very important projects in many countries, including an award-winning bridge in Berlin. And above all I chose him because he is a person who has been involved in low-density urban planning for many years. We are not a territory like all the others, we need to mend with the whole territory, not only with the coasts, with the urban areas, but we must also mend with territories that have a low population." And the transport issue is connected to this: the councilor will be Barbara Manca, who holds the same position in the Municipality of Quartu: «Another woman, a young mother, an engineer. She already works in Quartu, so she also has administrative expertise: she has dealt with transport in urban and extra-urban areas and, above all, also with continuity".

The priorities

Todde is convinced that the first sector in which to intervene must be healthcare: «We don't need a reform but a new healthcare model, with a new, different way of working, this certainly». The other crucial theme: transport, in fact. « We must immediately deal with managing territorial continuity. We will not be able to touch the tender because it expires now and therefore we have been forced to work with the tools we have available. So we can't change the rules, but we have the possibility of putting the experts to work immediately, to possibly arrive at next year's summer season with different rules, perhaps a negotiation already done".

The foreign councilor

In one of the crucial sectors, healthcare, a non-Sardinian was called, the Roman oncologist Armando Bartolazzi: «I believe that it is important that he is a person who expresses competence and extreme professionalism. Outside the logic that we also have here in Sardinia. And I see this as an added value and not a detriment. So I believe that having a person who is fresh and competent, has had political experience, but obviously has a curriculum that is recognisable, can give what is needed for Sardinian healthcare."
