Without the signing of the addendum to the 2009-2012 memoranda of understanding, Eurallumina of Portoscuso will shortly start the procedure for the collective dismissal of 400 direct workers which would come after more than 14 years of dispute and «as many years of institutional commitments often disregarded and changed during the course of the work by those who, from time to time, governed both in Cagliari and in Rome".

This was made known by the unions who yesterday met the company and the Sardinia Region in an inter-departmental meeting.

«It is clear that in the event that this scenario were to occur, we will hold the Region and the Government co-responsible for manifest inertia and inconclusiveness - observe the territorial and RSA secretaries of Filctem Cgil, Femca Cisl and Uiltec Uil, Emanuele Madeddu and Enrico Pulisci, Vincenzo Lai and Simone Zucca, Pierluigi Loi and Davide Boi - A serious and active commitment from everyone, with the institutions first and foremost, is more necessary than ever so that this can be averted."

The Region announced yesterday that it was working so that in the short term the meeting for the signing of the addendum could be convened by Mimit, to commit to guaranteeing the social protection of workers and declared that the new energy decree was being defined. With respect to this situation , the unions reiterate the state of operational agitation which entails the call to participate in initiatives with minimal notice.

«We declare from now on that if within a week from yesterday no feedback is received from the institutions with certain dates and in the very short term with respect to the call for the signing of the addendum - they let it be known - they will inevitably be put in place at the same time adequate mobilization initiatives".
