Domenico Battaglia, from La Maddalena, is the winner of the Adult Poetry section of the third edition of the poetry and prose competition "Traballu e Tzitadinanza" - Work and Citizenship , organized by the CISL (Italian Union of Workers' Unions) . Fabrizio Serra took first place in the Student Poetry section. In the prose section, Alessandro Garau won the Adult Section, while the 4H class from the Margherita Di Castelvì High School in Sassari won the Student Section.
Last Friday, December 12th, the winners were awarded prizes at the Olbia Archaeological Museum, attended by national and regional union leaders and representatives of the Municipality and the Region. The jury included Pirluigi Ledda, president, Attilio Mastinu, Anna Cristina Serra, Clara Farina, Giovanni Garrucciu, and Riccardo Mura.
"Our first goal," the union's official website states, quoting Paolo Cuscusa, regional president of ANTEAS (National Association of All Ages for Solidarity), "was to promote the Sardinian language as a useful tool for expressing and sharing experiences and perspectives related to the world of work and active citizenship.
The literary competition was organized in collaboration with CISL, FNP, and IAL Sardegna, with the patronage of the Sardinia Region. "These are central themes," Cuscusa added, "for the social and economic development of our island, but also for the education of informed, responsible, and committed citizens in building a more equitable and just society. In this sense, engaging the younger generations, who represent a living and shared resource, has become particularly important." The competition was organized in memory of Gigi Bonfanti, former national general secretary of the Pensioners' Federation (FNP). A total of 147 poems and prose were submitted, 60% of which were written by students from eight institutions.
