Massimo Zedda , president of the Sardinian Progressists, will be the candidate for mayor in Cagliari at the municipal elections on 8 and 9 June for the broad centre-left camp , the same coalition that voted for Alessandra Todde as president in the recent regional elections.

The Democratic Party , which had asked for time, dissolved its reservations this evening at the party's regional headquarters in Cagliari. He then declared his convergence on the name of Zedda , who was already mayor of Cagliari from 2011 to 2019, when he resigned to attempt to climb the Region losing to Christian Solinas. No doubt also from M5s, Avs and the other acronyms of the wide field . The table, as far as we know, has also rejected the idea of widening the field with the entry of the centrists.

The wide field experiment therefore continues on the island. Zedda's name had been on the field since January, the person directly involved had also said he was willing to submit to the primaries, but the Pd-5s alliance, as for the regional elections, opted for a shared choice .

In Cagliari it will therefore be Zedda against Zedda. In fact , Alessandra, already chosen some time ago by the centre-right coalition, will challenge Massimo. Former vice-president of the Solinas council and councilor for Labor with Forza Italia, she is a candidate to become the first female mayor in the history of the city.

Also running is the lawyer Giuseppe Farris , who is running for election as an independent with a civic list.
