A performance in motion inside and beyond the stage walls, drawing its origins from a well-known cinema classic: after opening at the Exma on September 13th , the thirty-second edition of the Fuorimargine festival now continues its journey with the new performance " Darkness Picnic " by the Dom- company, scheduled for Saturday 26th at 6pm , in the spaces of the Sala Convegni Cgil in viale Monastir 17 , followed by a walk towards Santa Gilla with a picnic at the end.

Freely inspired by the famous " Picnic at Hanging Rock " by Peter Weir and the novel of the same name by Joan Lindsay , the site-specific work has an indoor prologue, where in the darkness the audience eavesdrops on a conversation between two friends – one a psychoanalyst, the other a philosopher of aesthetics – which develops in a process of free association starting from the themes touched on in the two inspiring works : the social structure of picnics, the seduction of bodies out of place and the attractive force of the uncontaminated landscape, but above all the giving in to the call of the unknown to free oneself from the social constraints of the present .

And from the Conference Hall, the walk that leads to the picnic in the Santa Gilla area becomes an integral part of the show, conceived by the authors as a "temporary bivouac for nocturnal narrations" : a long musical suite and a space for deep listening, where at sunset its mystical side emerges.

The first in a series of works dedicated by Dom- to the centrality and political value of desire, erotic life and the radical consequences of processes of individual and collective liberation, the three-hour "Darkness Picnic" is written, directed and designed on stage by the company founders Leonardo Delogu and Valerio Sirna , with the creative and performative contribution of Chiara Aru , Violetta Cottini , Filippo Gonnella , Carlotta Sofia Grassi and Sara Saccotelli enriching the conversations between Daniela Angelucci and Emanuela Freire .

With composition and sound by Lemmo , lighting design by Valeria Foti , and technical support by Mael Veisse , the picnic food is by Angelica Stimpfl , in a joint production between Sardegna Teatro and Fuorimargine . The show, previously presented on April 8th at the Teatro Eliseo in Nuoro , will continue its tour in Paris in October 2026 for the Festival d'Automne.

Under the artistic direction of Momi Falchi and Giulia Muroni , the festival debuted with " Fatigue " by Irene Russolillo , and after "Darkness Picnic" it will return under the curtains on October 18th at the Auditorium of the Cagliari Conservatory , with " Replica " which will bring together two generations of dancers and choreographers: the duo of Ginevra Panzetti and Enrico Ticconi and that of Michele Abbondanza and Antonella Bertoni , comparing different sensibilities and languages in contemporary dance.
