It's his first full year as a professional (last six appearances in Serie A and two in the Coppa Italia), but Adam Obert is doing great. The Slovakian defender born in 2002, who arrived from Sampdoria in the summer of 2021, is growing visibly and aims to continue his ascent. During "Il Cagliari in Diretta", on Radiolina, he recounts his journey in rossoblù: «Before coming to Cagliari I met with Pierluigi Carta, who explained everything to me. I knew it was a great opportunity for growth , with many young players arriving in the first team unlike Sampdoria. I'm glad I made this choice." Now there's Ranieri, who is giving him continuity of employment: «I'm pleased that he thinks that together with Dossena he gives security to the team, but we've all done well and the understanding with his teammates is good. I trained as always, trying to give my best».
Growth. Arrived quietly in rossoblù, this year he had started playing several times as a left-back. A role where he adapts without problems, even if it is in the middle of the defense that he gives his best: «Before I was sixteen I was a point guard in midfield, even an attacking midfielder, and I also played there a few times for the national team. Then a coach in the Czech Republic put me in defense, I tried and felt better behind. I'm a central defender, but I've been left back since the Primavera of Sampdoria and when needed I can play there». Compared to his debut, just over a year ago, he feels he is already much more mature: «This year has changed because I've started playing more matches. Last year was a good experience, which helped me grow and get to where I am now. But I always have to improve».
Parma at 2 pm on Saturday, a match in which Obert already has a certainty: «We have to be concentrated and take advantage of the opportunities. I'm convinced it will go well, we know it's a fundamental match and we're going there to take the three points in the spirit we've had so far. We always have to think about giving our all, everyone has to play for the other and think about scoring as many points as possible between now and the end. Then we'll see where we're at."
