In memory of Francesco Masala. Nughedu San Nicolò, his hometown, does not forget him and dedicates the conference room to him, during a ceremony scheduled for December 13th starting at 6 pm.

For the homage to “Cicitu” Masala, a bilingual writer and poet (Sardinian and Italian), “the monologue “Sos Laribiancos” is staged, taken from his book “Quelli delle labbra bianche”, in which he tells the microcosm of Arasolè. On stage the actor Pier Paolo Piludu of Cada Die Teatro. On this occasion the mural by the artist Pina Monne will be presented. The Choir of Nughedu San Nicolò will be present. Masala, after graduating in Literature at the University La Sapienza of Rome, took part in the Second World War, fighting first on the Yugoslavian front and then on the Russian one.

Among his friends were Emilio Lussu, Aldo Capitini, Giuseppe Dessì, Salvatore Cambosu, Michelangelo Pira, Giulio Angioni and Giovanni Lilliu, to whom he was united by cultural, political and intellectual affinities. In 1951 he won the Grazia Deledda Prize and in 1956 the Chianciano Prize for the collection of poems Pane nero. In 1962, with Feltrinelli, he published the novel “Quelli dalle labbra bianche” on “all those forgotten by history", in which he recalls the tragedy on the Eastern front. He collaborated with the Cooperativa Teatro di Sardegna for the bilingual texts of the popular dramas Su connottu (1976) and Carrasegare (1978).

For the stage, in 1972, he also curated the theatrical adaptation of his novel with the director Giacomo Colli.
