The photo of Thomas Ceccon, an Italian swimmer fresh from his gold medal in the 100 meter backstroke, sleeping on the grass outside the Olympic Village set up in Paris to host the athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics, is going around the web.

It was taken by the Arab rower Husein Alireza, posting it on his Instagram profile.

The reason for Ceccon's choice? The absence of air conditioning inside the village accommodation, a choice harshly criticized by many athletes.

Just to escape the heat, Ceccon chose to lie down in the park to take a nap. And the image of the siesta on the lawn immediately went viral.
