The Maneskins never stop.

After the success at the Sanremo Festival and the Eurovision Song Contest and the recent American tour, in which they opened a concert by the Rolling Stones , the Roman group triumphed at the MTV European Music Awards in Budapest, winning the award for the best rock band .

Damiano, Victoria, Thomas and Ethan have beaten music giants like Coldplay, Foo Fighters and The Killers. Also contending for the scepter are Imagine Dragons and Kings Of Leon.

This is the first Italian success in one of the international categories in the history of the EMAs. No artist from our country had ever gotten even a nomination.

On stage the band members showed up dressed in black and gold, with the frontman in shiny leather briefs, boots and suspenders. Not only that, they wanted to underline the importance of the battles for LGBTQ + rights, which in Orban's Hungary are under attack, even in their speech.

"This year, in particular, we must be proud of our country for the results achieved not only by us, but by many sportsmen and cultural figures", they declared, "a pity for civil rights, where we continue to lag behind and instead for us it would have been the most important victory ". A clear reference to the stop in the Senate of the Zan Bill against homotransphobia.

The four also performed at the Papp László Budapest Sportarén with their latest hit "Mammamia". In the scenography a giant sign with the title of the song from which fireworks then exploded.

Among the other winners, Ed Sheeran, who was awarded the awards for the categories "Best Artist" and "Best Song", ignited the audience by singing "Overpass Graffiti" and "Shivers".

Winning the most awards (four), including "Best Pop", "Best K-Pop", "Best Group" (also beating Maneskin) and "Biggest Fans", was South Korean band BTS.

Lil Nas X won the "Best Video" category with "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)", while Nicki Minaj won the "Best Hip-Hop" award. The "Best Italian Act" went, instead, to rapper Aka 7even who beat Caparezza, Madame, Rkomi and Maneskin.
