Italy remains the preferred summer vacation destination, according to a Tecnè survey conducted for Federalberghi: 9 out of 10 Italians—88%—will choose to stay in Italy, while 12% will opt for destinations abroad.

And the sea will be the most popular destination for holidaymakers: almost 77% will opt for seaside destinations, with Sardinia at the top of the list of the most popular regions , together with Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Sicily, Puglia, Lombardy and Campania.

Those who don't go to the seaside will head to the mountains, the lake, or spa resorts (16%), while the remaining 4.2% will choose places of art and culture.

Again according to the Tecnè-Federalberghi survey, those who choose to go abroad will still prefer the seaside in foreign countries near Italy (57.0%), the large European capitals (16.4%) and tropical seas or exotic locations (10.7%).
