The funeral of the President Emeritus of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano will take place next Tuesday in the Chamber with a secular ceremony.
The former Head of State ( IL PORTRAIT ) died on Friday, at the age of 98, after his health conditions progressively worsened.
In recent years he had undergone two different and delicate operations, on the abdomen and on the aorta.
Palazzo Chigi authorized a state funeral for him.
There were many messages of condolence upon the news of his death, starting with that of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, who defined him as a man and a politician who «interpreted the role of guarantor of the values of our community with fidelity to the Constitution and acute intelligence , with heartfelt attention to the demands for renewal present in society".
