Cantus de paxi e libertade, songs and poetry as a tool in the hands of the people to fight injustice, support progress and build a path towards freedom. The satires against the barons, the revolt against the Piedmontese, the struggles of Pratobello, the resistance to the fascist regime and the role of poets in the great wars to reach the contradictions of the contemporary world and the ongoing conflicts. All in the interpretation of the “boghes a tenores ea cuncordu”, in the “cantos a chiterra”, and in the verses of our poets cantadoris alongside the improvisers of the Zajal of Palestine and the Tuscan ottava rima.
This is the central theme around which Musas e Terras 2024 is structured. The closing show is scheduled for the evening of December 27, at 8:30 pm, at the Teatro del Conservatorio in Cagliari.
The program includes the harmonies of the Tenore Supramonte of Orgosolo and the Bosa Choir, the “a ballu” music of Maria Antonietta Bosu and Davide Puligheddu, the vocal acrobatics of Franco Figos and Marco Manca, accompanied by the guitar of Nino Manca, the ancient cantzonis a curba of Dante Erriu. And a section of great substance and weight dedicated to the cantadores: Diego Porcu and Dionigi Bitti for the tradition of the Logudorese competition, Michele Piga and Giuseppe Caddeu for the “repentina” (Giuseppe Pintus on the accordion), Antonello Orrù and Paolo Zedda for the “mutetus” singing, Paolo Pilleri, Giuseppe Tatti (Basciu and contra) Stefano Campus on the Guitar. Alongside Ayoub Wael and Hafabi Taufik and Ahmad Naamnah, among the greatest interpreters of the Arab Zajal of Palestine, Enrico Rustici and Francesco Burroni Tuscan improvisers in ottava rima. An unprecedented moment of dialogue is planned between them, on current issues, with the help of a simultaneous translation service and projection on a mega screen, so that the improvisations in Arabic, Sardinian and Italian can understand each other and dialogue, and so that the audience can simultaneously follow the content of their creations. Poems by Anna Cristina Serra, Elio Turno Arthemalle, Simona Cuneo and Bustianu Pilosu complete the lineup.
The evening will end with a grand dance enlivened by the launeddas and the cuncordu instruments of CAMPOS.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the charity “Doctors Without Borders” to alleviate the disastrous humanitarian situation in conflict regions.
The show is the last stop of a series of artistic events scheduled in all the territories of the island, a scientific conference curated by LABIMUS University of Cagliari in collaboration with the Conservatory GP da Palestrina of Cagliari, open workshops and meetings with schools.
The program was born from a project proposed and curated by the CAMPOS association, which today represents over 600 artists of the 9 arts specific to Sardinia (Cantu a tenore, Cantu a cuncordu, Launeddas, Cantu a chiterra, instrumental music, improvisational poetry in traditions, a sa repentina, a mutetu longu, a mutos and the Logudorese poetry competition), promoted by the Istituto Superiore Etnografico della Sardegna.
