Mourning for Gianluca Grignani, his father Paolo has died.

The singer-songwriter himself announced it by posting a photo of him as a child with his father: «And for the rest everyone should judge for themselves... Hi dad» , he wrote on social media quoting a verse from «When you run out of breath», the song which he had taken to Sanremo dedicated precisely to the complicated relationships with his parent.

«My father lives in Hungary and we haven't seen each other for 15 years - explained Grignani, 51, at the time of the Festival -. He hasn't heard the song yet and I don't want his heart to explode."

The song, he further said, «was born suddenly, after an unexpected phone call from my father, who after years asked me if I would go to his funeral. Then I left it and picked it up several times. Some time ago I had already presented it at a festival, but then I withdrew it because I wasn't ready ."

Grignani has often talked about the pain of his parents' divorce and the long absences of his father, a dealer in supplies for photographers : «Even if I grew up alone, in my own way – he sings in the piece – bye dad or goodbye dad, this song is for you I sing now so that you know that I love you anyway. And for the rest everyone should judge for themselves."
