Monumenti Aperti aims higher and higher. The initiative, born as an informal network of relationships, has now given birth to a national committee in Cagliari to support the creation of a legal entity: the Community Foundation of Open Monuments Heritage. Local authorities and public and private institutions on the island are part of it.

Another important step forward for this wide-ranging cultural project which, since 1997, has been enhancing and promoting the treasures of cities, towns and villages with the involvement of schools and associations.

The event, organized by the Imago Mundi voluntary association chaired by Massimiliano Messina, in addition to Sardinia also involves Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Lazio and Puglia. A reality that has received important awards, such as the assignment of the Europa Nostra Award. Now Imago Mundi, historical coordinator of the initiative, is ready for the turning point with the birth of the Foundation, "a social infrastructure tool for the territory - explains Messina - capable of aggregating the different subjects that are expressions of local reality. And above all a legal entity suitable for attracting resources and making the most of them, also through the inclusion in the event circuit of those local communities that to date have not had the opportunity to join the national network for purely budgetary reasons ".

The committee will play a propulsive role on the territory, supporting and accompanying institutions and organizations and organized realities that intend to join the project, becoming strategic partners in order to facilitate, in perspective, the adhesion of natural persons, future citizens, in a process of progressive enlargement in small steps.
