It took very little to conquer the heart of the Island, but now Yerry Mina is ready to become a symbol of the present and future of the rossoblù. Cagliari secures its defensive totem with a contract renewal until June 30, 2028, with an option for a further season if specific sporting conditions occur.

Mina, who arrived in January 2024, made his debut with Roma on February 5 and took just a few games to take everything : the locker room, Ranieri's trust and above all the love of the fans. With his overwhelming charisma, the former Barcelona and Everton player immediately established himself as a silent but inexorable leader. On the pitch he commands, growls, wins duels (211, a record in Serie A), recovers balls (129) and... scores. Yes, because he also knows how to make himself heard in front of goal: from the first goal against Juventus and the decisive blow against Lecce. His performances have made a decisive contribution to achieving salvation, obtained with the victory over Sassuolo in Reggio Emilia.

This season he has played 30 league games so far , scoring the precious goal that opened the scoring in the 3-0 victory against Venezia, which was decisive in mathematically remaining in Serie A.

Mina is a battle-hardened player, one of those who change the face of a team . In just a few months he has become the defensive soul of Cagliari.

These are Mina's words immediately after signing the contract that binds him to Sardinia until 2028.

It helped me improve as a footballer, in a team that is always very united and faces every match to play at the top so as to give satisfaction to its people. I want to continue on this path, to be physically well, to bring my experience and leadership to the group as I have always tried to do.
