Dorothea Wierer missed out on a double in biathlon. After winning silver in the mixed relay , the Italian champion failed to medal in the women's individual final, finishing fifth .

"I wasn't in top physical condition today," Wierer said after the race, "but I still tried to give it my all, but unfortunately it didn't work out. I managed to cope with the fatigue during the first two laps on the skis, but from the third lap onwards, I started to experience the first difficulties . The conditions of the slope didn't help me."

For Wierer, a mistake in the second heat proved decisive, leading her to finish the race with 19/20 in the shot put . Dorothea finished the race with a time of 42:49.5 , while her compatriot Lisa Vitozzi fared poorly, finishing in thirty-seventh place.
