The Italian mixed curling team was forced to surrender, albeit only at the last minute, to the USA in the semifinals. The usual great performance by Stefania Costantini and Amos Mosaner wasn't enough, as they lost 9-8 at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium.

Italy remained in the lead until the last shot when the USA, in possession of the so-called “ Hammer ”, found the two winning points thanks to the stone thrown by champion Cory Thiesse , and the “brushes” of teammate Korey Dropking .

The Italian duo will have the chance to make amends tomorrow (Tuesday, February 10) in the third/fourth place match for the bronze medal. Awaiting Italy will be Great Britain , who were defeated 9-3 by Sweden in the other semifinal.
