Michele Merlo could have been saved with the right diagnosis.

This is what emerges from the appraisal ordered in the probative incident by the investigating judge of Vicenza on the former competitor of Amici and X Factor who died in Bologna of fulminant leukemia on 6 June 2021 .

The 28-year-old would have had a "79 to 86 percent" chance of being saved if the primary care physician understood that the leg hematoma was a symptom of the disease, and not a simple muscle tear , experts say.

The doctor from Rosà (Vicenza) to whom the artist had first turned, on May 26, 2021, is currently under investigation for manslaughter. The professional prescribed him a zinc bandage for a few days. On 2 June, another specialist visited the singer in Vergato (Bologna) diagnosing him with tonsillitis. From an appraisal ordered by the Public Prosecutor of Bologna it would have emerged that no therapy administered that day would have prevented the death of the young man .

For the experts there is no certainty that a timely diagnosis would have saved Merlo's life, since the treatments against leukemia do not have immediate effect and in the following days, lethal haemorrhages could have occurred. Rosà's doctor defended himself by claiming that it was Merlo himself who misled him, telling him that he suffered a bruised thigh during a move.

The report of the two consultants appointed by judge Antonella Toniolo was filed a few days ago and will be discussed on 29 September.
