Meloni: «This government will last a long time. The maneuver supports the fragile and the middle class"
The words of the chief executive one month after taking office: "They said we would favor the rich, they were taken aback"
«I knew it would be a difficult task» to lead Italy in a complex moment, but «compared to Draghi I can count on a clear majority, a common program and a popular mandate» and « for this reason I know that this government will last a long time » .
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is certain of this, who, a month after the new executive took office, takes stock of the Corriere della Sera.
«In our system, one person alone cannot make a difference», he says, «the team is needed».
«The maneuver proves it: we had few resources and we decided where to concentrate them – he underlines -. Priorities and a vision emerge : economic growth and attention to work, starting with the safety of the production system in the face of expensive energy. We have given clear signals with the taxation of productivity bonuses, the tax authorities for the self-employed, the provisions that eliminate unnecessary taxes, the one and a half billion euro family package. And then the attention to lower incomes. Some were taken aback by the choices of a government which, it was said, would favor the rich: we have chosen instead to support the most fragile and strengthen the middle class . The incremental flat tax also applies to a maximum of 40 thousand euros, and therefore concerns the middle class. The basic message we want to give is this: wealth is not created by the state but by companies with their workers. It is up to the state to lend a hand. We will be at the side of those who, in a difficult moment, roll up their sleeves".
What happened in Ischia, where a landslide caused deaths, missing persons and hundreds of displaced people , cannot be forgotten. And for this reason «in the CDM we have made a commitment: to approve the National Plan for adaptation to climate change within the year . Furthermore, the competent ministers will carry out a survey of both the already existing resources and the personnel to be made available to the Municipalities, starting from the smallest ones. We then mandated Minister Musumeci to create an inter-ministerial working group for medium and long-term interventions. There is a lot of work to do but a different cultural approach is also needed. Because every euro invested in the care of the territory is a euro invested in giving our children a safer and more protected Italy".
