" If anyone thinks that situations like Sangiuliano's could weaken the government, they are wrong . Dead king, long live the king. A minister dismissed, good work to the new minister."
Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Cernobbio Forum on the case of the resigning minister : « He resigned but there is no wrongdoing , there was a lot of media attention that transformed a private matter into a public matter. I don't think it's something we should lend ourselves to, that's why I didn't initially accept Sangiuliano's resignation, even though he made a mistake».
Again: " I intend to do my job well and I intend to do it until the end of the legislature. Today I lead the ninth longest-lasting government in history, if I make it to Christmas it will be the sixth."
The Prime Minister also spoke about Maria Rosaria Boccia: "I don't think I should start arguing with this person, I say this for the many women who have looked at this story like me. My idea of how a woman should earn her space in society is diametrically opposed to that of this person ," she said.
Before her speech, Meloni met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a bilateral meeting lasting about 40 minutes in which she confirmed Italy's support for Kiev.
" Ukraine cannot be abandoned to its fate. If the rules of international law are violated, we will have a multiplication of crises and chaos ," he reiterated. "Our choice does not change, with Zelensky we discussed how to reach a just peace."
