The sovereignists block the agreement on the compulsory redistribution of migrants by blowing up the agreement at the European Council .

Poland and Hungary say no to the agreement approved by a qualified majority at the Internal Affairs Council twenty days ago. The issue, argue Mateusz Morawiecki and Viktor Orban , is too delicate and belongs to the leaders, who however decide unanimously and not by majority. Warsaw and Budapest are against the law which provides for the compulsory relocation of migrants or economic sanctions for the countries that oppose it .

A stalemate that lasted all night which delayed the publication of the conclusions also on Ukraine and Defense Europe. Jobs have been updated to today.

"The European Council confirms that, in the context of solidarity measures that are equally valid, relocation and resettlement will be on a voluntary basis ": this is the position of the two countries that undermine the concept of compulsory solidarity that underpins the Pact on migrants and that it was a victory above all for Italy, a country of first arrival, and for Giorgia Meloni. In fact, Italy has already voted for that agreement twenty days ago, at the end of a flurry of interior ministers' summit in Luxembourg .
