"When the President of the Republic was Minister of Education, he issued circulars urging people not to group foreign students in the same class. It's a common-sense measure. I think it's right to continue it," said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a guest on Cinque minuti, broadcast on Rai1.
These words come after the announcement of restrictions on the number of foreigners in classrooms and Mattarella's warning yesterday, emphasizing: "School is the most effective lever for integration for those from other countries and for young people born in Italy who are the children of immigrants. School prepares everyone and is open to all, as stated in Article 34 of the Constitution."
"I don't think the President of the Republic is afraid of ghetto classes: I've read this interpretation as the prevailing one, but I personally don't read it that way, because the President of the Republic says that schools must overcome ghettos, not create ghettos," and the desire to create "more balanced classes" goes in this direction, Meloni added, again referring to the President of the Republic's words.
