"I behaved as a European leader should behave because I asked myself if the trajectory was right." Thus in an interview with Corriere della Sera, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni spoke about the choice of the Brothers of Italy and the League not to vote for Ursula Von der Leyen as president of the EU Commission.
«Since I can't say that I consider it right, especially on some of the matters on which citizens have asked for a change of pace, I did what seemed right to me. If you decide to say yes just to do what others do, you are not doing the job that a leader is supposed to do", added Meloni.
According to the number one at Palazzo Chigi «Europe has often lacked politics, which is vision and decision. The reason why things risk not working in the coming years is that the method chosen to indicate top positions can compromise both things."
Furthermore, Meloni added, "If you try to put together everything and the opposite of everything, allying political forces that don't think the same way about anything, you risk not having a clear vision."
