Coming off a year full of prestigious awards, just to mention the last ones in December the special prize at the Grazia Deledda in Nuoro and the Monte Arci Prize in Morgongiori, a place that is the birthplace of the lorighittas but well known to the author when he is in command of the small ultralights that he has been piloting for passion for some years, Matteo Porru, one of the young talents of Sardinian literature, already appreciated in the Peninsula and abroad, returns to the bookshops today and at the same time, this evening, Tuesday 28 January, at 6:30 pm, he presents his latest novel “Il volo sopra l'oceano”, published by Garzanti, at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari.

It is the story of a meeting on a plane between the elderly Michele and the very young Jonathan; far apart in age and experience, chatting during the trip they will discover that they have much more to say and listen to than they could have imagined.

The writer from Cagliari, well known to the general public for his frequent appearances in the most important television talk shows on national networks, will be in conversation with Lodo Guenzi, singer, musician and actor, member of the musical group Lo Stato Sociale and much loved by young people.

A second meeting within the Éntula Festival is scheduled for Thursday, January 30 at 6 pm in the University Library of Sassari, where the author will converse with Alessandro De Roma and Roberto Uzzau, while tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29, Matteo Porru will be at the Mondadori bookshop in Oristano.

But it is only the beginning of a long journey that will take Matteo Porru on tour throughout Italy starting from mid-February after the stops on the Island.

From February 13th the appointments will be in Venice, Rovigo, Padua, Treviso and then again Rome, Pomigliano D'Arco, Palermo, Brescia, Novara, Varese and Milan.

But that's not all.

From today, on RaiPlay, comes “Matte”, a documentary film on the intense life of Matteo Porru between dream and fear, heaven and earth. A choral, airy and intimate story that intertwines the testimonies of relatives, doctors, friends, school and flight teachers to describe the boy beyond the prodigy, the hope beyond the pain.

“Matte is an intense documentary film that highlights the importance of willpower, family and human relationships – comments Maurizio Imbriale, director of Rai Digital and Transmedia Content – A narrative of great impact and hope that focuses on the delicacy of gestures and feelings and reaches straight to the heart of the audience, to demonstrate that even in the face of difficulties, one can take flight and embrace the success of life.”

“When I learned that Rai would broadcast the story of how I grew up – adds Matteo Porru – I rejoiced like a child. It's a celebration, an honor. The beginning of an adventure. Many people over the years have believed in the stories I write. RaiPlay deserves my sincerest thanks for believing in mine!”

“Matte”, directed by Michele Garau and supported by the Sardegna Film Commission, is produced by Storiami, Interlinea film and Next, for Rai Contenuti Digitali e Transmediali.

Entrance to the Teatro Massimo is free.
