Mary Quant, the "mother of the miniskirt" has died

British designer Mary Quant , known for being the "mother of the miniskirt" , has died at the age of 93 .

Famous all over the world for her sartorial creation, she has also become an icon for her bob haircut , signed by hairdresser Vidal Sasson. It was the family who spread the news with a statement which reads that " she passed away peacefully at her home in Surrey ".

Quant was born in Blackheath (London), on February 11, 1930 . Protagonist in London in the 60s, she was a contemporary of the Beatles and the face of the revolution that swept through the city in the middle of the last century.
