He reached the milestone of 300 professional games a month before turning 30. The rossoblù defender Mario Mercadante reached them with Sunday's match against Campobasso.

The left-handed defender arrived at Torres at the end of August, on a permanent basis from Gubbio, where he made 36 appearances. He played 18 games for the Sassari team, including the Coppa Italia, and always or almost always provided solid performances both from a technical and competitive point of view. Curiously, he scored against his former team, the 2-1 goal, the winning one.

In his career, Mercadante also wore the shirts of Cesena (27 matches), Monopoli (203), Savoia (12), Ischia (1) and Matera (3 appearances).

Fun fact: he was born in Altamura, the hometown of Meo Sacchetti, silver medalist at the 1980 Moscow Olympics and coach of the Dinamo Basket championship, as well as of the promotion to Serie A and the conquest of two Italian Cups and an Italian Super Cup.
