Razvan Marin is leaving Cagliari on a permanent deal for Athens. The deal with AEK Athens was finalized this evening, having applied strong pressure on the Romanian midfielder, as he will play in the preliminary rounds of the Conference League this week. Initially, the Greek club's offer was deemed low, but the parties later approached each other and reached an agreement.
The now former Rossoblu player is moving to Greece for one million euros, signing a generous three-year contract, ending his time in Sardinia, where he arrived in the summer of 2020 from Ajax. Fabio Pisacane wanted to keep him, but in the end the green light was given for his transfer (he only had one year left on his contract).
Marin, who returned a year ago after a two-year loan at Empoli, has made 111 appearances and scored seven goals for Cagliari in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. He participated in the training camp in Ponte di Legno, which is just ending (the final two sessions were held today), and will now travel to Greece to sign for AEK Athens.
