Now it's getting serious. The opening of the Marghine archaeological museum, expected for about 30 years, is closer : in February, after the services conference, the project will be approved and observations will be made, which will lead to the inauguration probably within the next year.

The Unione dei Comuni del Marghine (contracting body), the landscape protection service and the superintendency for archaeological assets will participate in the services conference. The resources, 330,000 euros, are available and are part of the Marghine development plan, approved five years ago by the Region .

We proceed immediately with the cataloging of the finds, kept for years in the restoration center of Li Punti , near Sassari, and coming from the various excavation areas of Marghine. The museum will also house the finds discovered in the 1950s in the Marras cave and in the S'Adde valley in Macomer . Not the so-called Veneretta, which has been kept in the archaeological museum of Cagliari for 70 years, of which only a copy will be exhibited in the Macomer museum.

«After the appointment of the archaeologist - says the councilor for culture, Gianfranco Congiu -, with the recent launch of the cataloging campaign of the finds in the Li Punti restoration center, we are taking another important step forward for the opening. The final project for the completion of the historic center structure has been delivered . We await the services conference for the green light, which will allow us to tender the completion works, including the very important video surveillance system and the multimedia circuit for image processing. Surely a great work that will give the right emphasis and recognition to the importance that Marghine and Macomer have in the archaeological history of Sardinia».
