"I've never been a gambling addict."

Radio host Marco Baldini overturns what he has repeatedly stated about his gambling problems, a vice that has eclipsed his career and led him to contract serious debts.

In the One More Time podcast, Fiorello's former right-hand man told Luca Casadei a completely different version of that story.

He did have a fixation on money, yes, and it began to arise when he arrived in Milan to work on radio Deejay : «I'm starting to earn exorbitant sums thanks to some people who offer me safe and legal real estate deals. The first time I invest 100 million and I get 140 in a short time and it goes on like this for about two years. One day they tell me that they need to invest a larger amount to build a real estate complex of luxury homes, I consult with my lawyer/accountant and I go all-in…. Point everything, almost two billion lire and shortly after I learn that these people have been arrested, because they laundered money from the underworld . I had lost everything and at that point I invented the story of gambling to justify to the investigators the enormous income and expenditure of money from my account».

He is aware that "retracting" everything after having also written a book on this story (entitled "The player", which was made into a film "The morning has gold in his mouth" which he wrote himself) can make you distort someone's nose: "Half of the people will say 'noooo' and the other half will say 'he's talking bullshit' - he explained - . I've never been vicious, I've never been a compulsive gambler, or in any case I'm not born like this, I had to prove it to defend myself from much more serious things , it all happened in 1995, I was 35-36 years old and I convinced everyone that I had reduced myself to this because of gambling, but it was a cover to avoid worse troubles, these are things that cannot be told yet, everything that has happened to me is my fault, it all started from a mistake…».

A situation in which he once risked ending very badly: "At that time I was giving 20 percent a month and I had a billion in debt and that month I had to find 200 million that I didn't have ... One day a tobacconist near my house he tells me that he has 2 billion stolen revenue stamps and that if I manage to place them, I'll get 30%. I was inside the underworld, so I contact the most important, but also the most dangerous person in Milan and I propose the deal, but then it turns out that the revenue stamps are fake, so they take me to a field and tell me to dig a hole , they would have thrown me in it, because I had disrespected them, they thought I had screwed them over. Suddenly, while I was there digging, I had a kind of revelation, I came out of the body and saw myself from above, I felt a sudden and natural calm... Finally I managed to convince them that I was in good faith and that I too had been scammed..."
