The debate continues within the government majority on the maneuver , which must be approved by Parliament by December 31st.

Among the hot topics under discussion, there is the tax cut and the various proposals put forward by the parties on how to use the eight billion provided for in the budget law.

Labor Minister Andrea Orlando has no doubts: "I think they should be mainly intended for workers", he explained to Radio24.

The exponent of the Democratic Party argues that even businesses must be helped, “but I believe that at the moment there is a theme of losing the purchasing power of workers. If there is some space left, I believe attention should be paid to the small businesses that suffered the most during the pandemic ”.

He then commented with optimism on the meeting, which took place yesterday afternoon at Palazzo Chigi, between Prime Minister Mario Draghi and the secretaries of CGIL, CISL and UIL: "The dialogue we had hoped for has taken the right path. It was a very positive confrontation. . We still can and must work. It seems to me that yesterday has improved the picture of the situation ".

On the subject of pensions, the minister explained that the "main points" of the table have been "identified", the first meetings of which are expected as early as December, and that "the will that emerged is to address the structural issues" of the system by seeking " to overcome distortions ".

The elements under discussion "are essentially three: how an element of flexibility is introduced, how a guarantee for young people is introduced and how the difference and the severity of the work are taken into account".

Finally, regarding the possibility of introducing a minimum wage for workers, he said: "There are different ideas" but "certainly there is a problem of the vertical loss of purchasing power and the difficulty of bargaining to cope with it. I hope that a confrontation on this issue that has been at a standstill for too long will be released, because if you do not want the minimum wage you have to adapt the rules of bargaining in some way. If bargaining remains firm, the minimum wage becomes an option ".
