A government amendment to the budget tabled yesterday in the Senate Budget Committee provides for a compensation of 105.6 million for 2024 to the Valle d'Aosta, Friuli Venezia-Giulia and Sardinia regions and to the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano due to the effects of the implementation of the first module of Irpef reform.

While the ordinary regions are expected to receive a compensation of 100 million for 2024 to cover the increased costs caused by the increase in the prices of energy sources in 2022 and 2023.

At the same time, for the ordinary statute regions, a reduction of 250 million is expected in part of the allocations for investments foreseen over a period of time up to 2033.

The same "package" includes the provisions on old-age pensions which will be excluded from the tightening envisaged in the maneuver for doctors, employees of local authorities, teachers and bailiffs but those paid in advance will instead be penalised. In any case, an amendment specifies that all the pensions of those who meet the requirements by 2023 will not be covered by the new provisions.

And, again, some measures include a fund with 32 million for the two-year period 2024-2025 and 42 million euros per year from 2026 for the increase in resources allocated to ancillary economic treatments in the defense, security and public rescue sectors. Resources of 38.3 million euros per year from 2024 to 2026 to personnel of the Police Forces, the Armed Forces and the Fire Brigade for the stipulation of insurance policies for complementary and supplementary health and accident coverage.

Finally, the announced amendment on investments in the territories and on the Bridge over the Strait of Messina requires a few more days, which could be sent to Palazzo Madama on Monday.
