Majority bonus, gender alternation, and signatures: the six points of the appeals against the electoral law.
There will be thirty of them, presented by the Network for a free and equal vote: "They will be filed on October 26th in all the Courts of Appeal."Immediately after the electoral law was approved, the announcement of the filing of appeals came.
Six issues are raised in the appeals filed by the Network for a Free and Equal Vote. "We believe that many aspects of this law reflect points already declared unconstitutional in the past," Professor Enrico Grosso explained during a press conference at the Chamber of Deputies. "The first issue is the majority bonus, both in numerical terms and in terms of the method of assigning it through a fixed number," he explained.
The second aspect concerns the autonomy of the electoral base of the two houses of Parliament and the regional base for the Senate. The third concerns the "methods by which seats are assigned to individuals," followed by gender alternation, the nomination of the prime ministerial candidate, and signatures.
"We have the ambitious goal of filing the appeals on the day the law comes into force. They will be filed on October 26th in all Courts of Appeal," said lawyer Pietro Adami at a press conference. According to Adami, who confirmed there will be 30, the hearing in court could be "absolutely in mid-January," and the order raising the issue with the Constitutional Court could be issued at the "end of January."
