Macron confirms that he spoke to Kylian Mbappé and " advised him to stay in France " before the PSG striker announced his refusal to move to Real Madrid.
In a long interview published today by the main regional newspapers and by Le Parisien, the French president therefore confirms what the striker said in the press conference in which he formalized his renewal of the contract with Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappé reported receiving "advice" from the French president.
" I assure you that I do not intervene in any transfer - Macron said -, when it comes to sport I am like an ordinary citizen, with the desire to see a good game and cheer for a team, which in my case is Olympique Marseille ".
Then he said: “I had a discussion with Mbappé before his choice to extend until 2025, but it was only to advise them to stay in France. When asked in an informal and friendly way, the role of a president is to defend the country ”.
More than Macron's advice were certainly influenced by the many millions of reasons that the company of Sheikh Nasser Al-Khelaifi gave Mbappé to stay in Paris. A pharaonic contract, the details of which have not yet been formalized: but the French press speaks of 50 million euros net per year plus 130 million signing bonuses .
