Dizzying figures for those who buy a last minute ticket from Sardinia with a low cost airline .

Ryanair and its sisters have built a business model on it, but in fact only the Sardinian routes reach certain levels .

The comparison

The record is from the Cagliari-Milan Bergamo line. A return flight purchased at the last moment for tomorrow, returning to Sardinia on Sunday, can cost 812 euros. Basic fare, obviously: you can only board with a backpack. If you need to take on a trolley or even hold luggage, you need to review the accounts: you need 82 euros more. A luxury that not everyone can afford. Even the Alghero-Milan flight, with the same characteristics, costs the same as renting a studio apartment in the centre: 608 euros.

In the rest of Italy

A treatment reserved only for the Island? It's difficult to say with certainty, but by checking the Irish company's website you come across much lower prices on similar routes, but departing from other airports : the Palermo-Milan route reaches a maximum of 387 euros, therefore over 50% less. More affordable, but certainly not free, are the other routes guaranteed by low cost airlines on the island. EasyJet's Olbia-Milan costs 250 euros, Volotea's Cagliari-Venice costs 219 euros.

In Europe

International flights cost less, at least to Cagliari: a return ticket to London costs 321 euros, less than half of a last minute connection to Milan.

In short: the tariff short circuit is on the route between the island and the Lombardy airports. The most frequented by Sardinian passengers for work, study or health reasons.
