Lollobrigida at the Carloforte tuna fishery: «One of the beating hearts of Italian fishing»

"From today, more security and more wealth on what arrives on the tables of Italians, our government had guaranteed it and we are doing it."
This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida this morning in Carloforte , on the island of San Pietro in Sardinia, on the occasion of the signing of the protocol that officially gives life to the "Signed by Italian Fishermen" brand , promoted by Coldiretti .
«The brand is a further method of identifying a production, a process that has behind it safety, work, respect for the environment, respect for the rules, everything that our Italian system» , underlined the minister on the sidelines of the presentation event.
"The brand - explained Lollobrigida - protects the quality of Italian fishing, such as that of the Carloforte tuna fishery where the process that transforms a quality product like tuna into a supply chain that gives wealth to work is implemented . A world that for too many years has received little attention with the desertification of the territories where fishing-related activities took place or by not valorizing the many peculiarities that our products have".
"Fishing, transforming and creating work and wealth on the national territory is a value, a principle on which private entrepreneurs and institutions must be engaged - concluded the minister - by providing rules and also providing support to reactivate a virtuous process" .
The minister also praised the Sardinian fishing tradition and the activity of the Carloforte tuna fishery.
" The tuna fishery, in this extraordinary place, represents one of the beating hearts of Italian fishing: a symbol of tradition, respect for the sea and dedication to work," he wrote on Facebook.
Adding: "Here you can breathe centuries of intertwined stories: lives that have made the sea their home, expert hands that preserve and pass on ancient gestures, full of culture, identity, family and community. We will always remain alongside those who live fishing every day, because it is from these stories, from these hands, that what makes Italy a true superpower of quality in the world is born".
